I remember shopping for a winter coat with my mom.

We lived near Three Hills, I was about 12, and I needed a new winter coat. We drove into town and went to Fields. I think it was Fields even way back then...I could be wrong. I'm sure the location was the same as the Fields now; not much changes in these small towns.

I remember walking into the store and seeing the coats on the racks. I walked over, picked out a red down-filled coat, tried it on, and said, "This is the one, Mom. I like this one." She made me try on every other coat in the store to see if I liked some other coat better. I didn't. We spent an hour in there, and in the end I walked out of the store with the coat I had known I liked from the very first.

I am sure this confused my mother. I know I was certainly confused by her that day. Why try on more coats if you've already found the One?

Haha... That's exactly how it is when my Mom and I go shopping together too. I'm glad we're not the only ones.

My ol' mum would drag us down to "Woolco" at the mall. A sense of dread hung heavily on my brother and I as we knew this was going to be a looooong day. All I could think of, was more striped "flood" pants and dreaded "crew" cuts. We knew our friends were on some great adventure somewhere, and our Saturday was buggered by this nonsense. To this day, I begin to panic and cry in change rooms. They ALL have two-way mirrors you know!

YOU certainly were dazzled by her attempts to confuse your decision. speaking of fields... don't buy advent calenders there - Julia ate her whole box in hopes of finding a decent tasting chocolate - to no avail. I guess when it only cost 50 cents, you can expect it to taste like cardboard.

Like I've told you before, man...Bernard Callebaut needs to put out an Advent Calendar. I'd drop large dollars for that!

I'm just like your mom. I have terrible anxiety while purchasing an item for fear that a better option is just around the corner. I put twelve things on hold all around the mall, just to make sure I didn't miss anything. It drives everyone in my family nuts.

Lucky for you your mom let you choose you're jacket. Not all get that choice....I always know right away when I find the right thing....and when I know it...I never worry about there being better, I guess God knew what he was about when he made mothers to be like that, though, because they always do worry that it's not good enough....

paula, you're darn lucky you found ANYthing in the fields store. as one who has needed to buy underwear for the 8-year old, and found nothing in his size at that store.....argh!

and i definitely second the motion on bernard getting advent calendars! shall we lobby?
